Welcome to the K.R. Cama Oriental Institute

The K R Cama Oriental Institute was established in 1916 through funds collected from the citizens of Bombay to perpetuate the memory of Mr. Kharshedji Rustomji Cama, the renowned oriental scholar, linguist, social reformer and educationist who passed away in 1909.

Being an amalgamation of several private collections, the library of the Institute is considered to be one of the finest
of its type in the world and
is among the most comprehensive source of information on Zoroastrianism and Iranian studies.

This treasure house of ancient Avesta, Pahlavi and Persian literature along with books on oriental studies, consists of about 26,000 books, 2000 unique manuscripts on a variety of subjects and nearly 2,000 bound volumes of various scholastic journals. Read More...

Mrs Avabai B Wadia Research Fellowships

Mrs Avabai B Wadia Research Fellowships in memory of Phiroz Dorabji Mehta.

The Institute is now inviting applications for the Mrs Avabai B Wadia Research Fellowships for the year 2012-2013. Research Fellowships will be offered to researchers in the area of Oriental Studies in the fields of philosophy/religions/culture/history. Applicants must be graduates from a recognised University. The Research Fellowships will be offered to researchers for a maximum period of two years, subject to their making satisfactory progress and sending quarterly progress reports.
